CHALLENGE
When Polaris relaunched the Indian Motorcycle brand in the 2010's, they wanted a way of thanking the new owners for their recent purchases and to build brand loyalty. So they turned to Business Impact Group (BIG) to create a personalized and custom gift.
SOLUTION
Our talented team at BIG designed and sourced a unique desktop clock shaped like a motorcycle gas tank, color-matched to the owner's new bike. Other pieces of the kit would include a welcome letter, personalized certificate of ownership, an Indian Motorcycle owner patch, and a personalized roadside assistance card. Our print department worked with our vendor to obtain a dieline for a box to contain it all.
My role as Senior Graphic designer was to create a design for the outside and inside of the box, as well as design the certificate, welcome letter, and roadside assistance card, all using Indian's wonderful brand guidelines and included font, logos and icons.
For the box exterior, I wanted the Indian Motorcycle logo front and center and impossible to miss, as part of the objective to this piece was building brand recognition. I opted to place their primary color logo against a white background, with a ghosted version of their "Indian head" seal and three closeup images for a little extra visual interest.
The box interior was kept to solid colors to best show-off the kit pieces, aside from utilizing the alternate full color logo as part of the welcome letter holder. The letter, certificate and card were all designed according to Indian's guidelines, and we chose to have the letter and certificate printed on parchment stock for both a premium feel, and to represent Indian's long and historic heritage.
RESULTS
The kits were a smashing success, and owners took to social media praising the quality and expressing gratitude to Polaris. Primarily, they praised expressed how appreciated as customers they felt by Polaris, versus their previous buying experiences with Indian's competitors.
